Jackson Hole summer activities are among some of the finest things to enjoy when visiting the area. There are so many activities going on, not finding something to do would be virtually impossible. A wide range of summer activities that are available include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife or scenic tours, guide services, photo safaris, recreational rentals, the Alpine Slide and Cowboy Coaster, wagon trails, horseback riding, golf, tennis, climbing, white water rafting or scenic float trips down the Snake River canyon, tram and chairlift rides, and hot air balloon rides. With so many summer activities to choose from, travelers to Jackson Hole can always keep themselves occupied. Temperatures are usually milder in this part of the country during the summer months.

Both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are open to cars for driving and are easily accessible for sight-seeing trips.

Fall brings the golden hues of changing aspen leaves and the distant bugles of migrating elk. The Elk Refuge Inn takes its name from the National Elk Refuge, which can be viewed directly from the Inn. With late fall snows, 8000 elk migrate from the higher mountain valleys into this winter preserve to feed for the winter. Fall is a peaceful season in the mountains. Travelers and residents alike soak up the last of the summer warmth and sleep soundly under an extra blanket as the night cools down.

Jackson Hole winters are unique. While annual snowfall is 33 feet and the average daytime temperature is 21 degrees, bright sunny days and our dry mountain air keep body and soul warm and lively. The Jackson Hole Ski Resort, just 13 miles from the Elk Refuge Inn, has over six miles of beginner to advanced ski terrain. In addition, there are snowcat tours into Yellowstone Park, miles of cross-country ski and snowmobile trails, horse-drawn sleigh rides through the National Elk Refuge, dog sled rides, and lively nightlife in town. Other winter wonderland activites include snowboarding, tours, cross-country skiing, ice skating, heli-skiing, snowmobiling, snow tubing, telemark skiing, snow coach rides, and snowshoeing.
