Music lovers are in for a treat this summer. July offers incredible opportunities to enjoy live performances in some of the most scenic venues in the West.

King Concerts at Snow King Mountain

Few concert venues in America can compete with the summit stage at Snow King. Guests ride the gondola to nearly 8,000 feet where national touring artists perform against a backdrop of the Tetons and the National Elk Refuge. The National Museum of Wildlife Art

Just a few minutes north of the Inn, perched on a butte overlooking the National Elk Refuge, you’ll find one of the most spectacular museums in the entire Rocky Mountain West — the National Museum of Wildlife Art . With more than 5,000 works spanning three centuries of wildlife art from around the globe, this is a must-do experience for any guest.

▪ Walk the 3/4-mile outdoor Sculpture Trail through the sage hillside, with more than 20 monumental wildlife sculptures and uninterrupted views over the Elk Refuge.

▪ Mark your calendar: the museum’s annual Plein Air Fest is Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Nearly 50 invited artists paint the landscape live from the Sculpture Trail with views over the Elk Refuge — free admission for spectators.

If you’re going to spend the morning at the museum, make a full afternoon of it and stay for lunch at Palate , the museum’s on-site restaurant. Tucked into the lower level with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Sleeping Indian and the National Elk Refuge, Palate may have the most artful view of any lunch spot in Jackson Hole — which is exactly the point.

Jackson Hole’s growing season is famously short — only about 60 frost-free days a year — so the wildflowers change week to week. If you came in May, you saw the early bloomers waking up the valley floor: sagebrush buttercup, glacier lily, spring beauty, and the first arrowleaf balsamroot.

June is when the show really begins. Watch for:

A Little June Trivia

Summer Solstice falls on June 20. In Jackson Hole that means roughly 15.5 hours of daylight — the longest day of the year and an excuse to stay out late chasing alpenglow.
The world’s longest-running Town Square Shoot-Out (going since 1957!) takes place six nights a week, May through September, right on the Square.
Just south of town, Snow King — Wyoming’s very first ski area (1939) — opens its summer chairlift in June for hiking, biking, and concerts at the summit.
A photograph of the Tetons by Ansel Adams is currently traveling on Voyager II — making Jackson Hole one of the only landscapes humans have launched into deep space.

If you read our April blog, you’ll remember we teased the park openings. Well, the wait is over — Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone are now fully open for the season , and May is arguably the most magical time to visit.

Wildlife Is the Star of the Show

This is why most people come to Jackson Hole — and May delivers like no other month. The valley and the parks are alive right now:

■ Bears are out. Both grizzlies and black bears have emerged from hibernation and are actively foraging at lower elevations. Female bears with cubs are increasingly visible — this is one of the most exciting wildlife events of the year. Keep your distance and bring binoculars.

■ Bison calving season. May is peak calving time for bison in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Watch for the adorable “red dogs” — newborn calves with reddish-orange coats bouncing alongside the herd. Born weighing 30–70 pounds, they can keep up with the herd just hours after birth.

■ Baby cows on the open range. Right now you’ll spot calves out on the ranch lands surrounding Jackson — little ones resting with their heads nestled into the hay, still nursing from mama. It’s one of those small, charming moments that makes this valley feel so special.

■ Moose, elk & migratory birds. Moose frequent the wetlands, elk herds are active, and migratory birds — including loons and ibises — are passing through on their journey north.

■ Yellowstone National Park — Roads begin opening in phases starting April 17 (Mammoth to Old Faithful via West Entrance). The South Entrance connecting to Grand Teton opens around May 8. The North Entrance at Gardiner, MT is open year-round.

We’re continuing our room-by-room renovations with new bedroom furniture rolling out this month, following the hardwood floor upgrades we completed in January. We’re also thrilled to share that by mid-March we’ll be fully transitioning to all King beds across the inn, offering a more luxurious standard in every room and a consistent, restful sleep experience for every guest.

We’re starting the year with exciting updates behind the scenes! Right now, we’re installing new hardwood floors , completing the work one room at a time so we can remain open and welcoming guests throughout the process.

This upgrade includes removing carpet and replacing it with hard flooring for a cleaner, brighter, and more modern feel. We’ve listened closely to guest feedback, and many travelers now strongly prefer hard floors — especially for comfort, cleanliness, and allergy-friendly stays.

Our goal is to complete this phase by February , and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome guests into these refreshed spaces.
